With an engine derived from the 200cc single, the KL250 series was Kawasaki’s range of four stroke off-road, trail and farm bikes. It coupled frame and suspension experience gained from their small 2-stroke range with a bored and stroked version of  the Z200 motor ( minus electric start to save weight )

The KLX was a slightly tweaked KL250 in a 125 moto cross chassis derived from Kawasaki’s A5 series scramblers.
